Summer Camp

Our group had a great time at Crossroads Camp held at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. I've been to camp about 30 out of the 38 summers in my life. I love going to camp. My wife and I met at camp. I was a 3rd generation camp staffer at South Mountain Baptist Camp in Connelly Springs, NC on my father's side and 2nd generation on my mother's side, as both my parents and my grandmother worked on staff there. I did not go to camp in '06 and had withdrawals. I love to see the children, youth, and adults let go and have freedom in worship.
It is truly a mission trip when you attend camp. I see young people give their lives to Christ each year and see adults renew their commitment to God because of the great things they see Him do in their groups. It is great to see them take that enthusiasm back to their churches and spread it to others. If you are a young person reading this blog, I encourage you to attend camp with your church. If you are an adult, please take a week out of your schedule to go with your church's kids to camp and help lead them to a closer walk with Christ.
With all that said, camp does not replace church. If the only time you worship freely is at camp once a year, then you need to carry on that same spirit of worship and excitement for Christ everyday and at your church each week. Follow Christ in everything you do, everywhere you go, and with everyone you are around to lead others to Christ.
